Who is a Young Carer?

• Young Carers are children and young people under the age of 18 who provide care, assistance or support to another family member, who has a long term illness or disability.

• This may include a physical or learning disability, mental health problems or problems caused by substance and/or alcohol use.

• They may be included in a wide range of caring responsibilities such as emotional support, domestic chores, personal and / or medical care and family responsibilities.
